the seats light up
On the trip itself, the plan becomes a map you can click. Choose a diver and the seats they are allowed to take start pulsing. Taken seats carry initials in their group's colour, so a glance tells you which group sits where and who is still standing.

Register a boat once with its diver capacity and every trip built on it respects the number. No more counting tanks on a napkin.
Archive, don't delete
Sold a boat, stopped running a site? Archive it. It leaves the pickers for new trips and stays intact on every trip that already happened.
Pools count as resources too
Confined water sessions need a lane as much as a dive needs a boat. Pools are managed alongside the fleet and block out on the schedule.
Practical questions
No. A boat needs a name and a diver capacity, and that is enough to plan trips. The seating plan is there for the shops that care where people sit, and it can be drawn later without touching anything already booked.
Layouts are versioned. Drawing a new one makes it the current plan for future trips while the old version stays on the record, so a trip from last season still shows where people actually sat.
You archive it rather than delete it. It disappears from the pickers when planning new trips, but every past trip, manifest and dive log that referenced it stays intact.
Yes. Each boat carries its own plan, its own zones and its own seat labels. A wide catamaran and a narrow longtail do not have to pretend to be the same shape.
